Abstract:
During January 2008 Soil mechanics were commissioned by Centre for Marine and Coastal studies (CMACS) on behalf of SeaScape Energy Ltd to conduct a hydrographic monitoring programme at the recently commissioned Burbo Offshore Windfarm (OWF). As part of this contract a series of surveys have been programmed over 2008/09, including Bathymetry, Cable Burial and ADCP. The survey reports, split into five parts, are present within this series.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | A GeoAcoustics GeoSwath Plus interferometric swathe echo sounder was utilised throughout the survey. The system was operated at a frequency of 250 KHz with a two-way beam width of 0.5° azimuth and an across track resolution in the order of 1.5 cm transmitting around seven times a second. Achievable swathe width was in the order of 4 times water depth. Data were collected with 100% overlap to ensure good data coverage and quality. A GeoAcoustics 160 side scan sonar system with a 159D dual frequency tow-fish was utilised for the Cable Burial portion of the survey. |
