Metadata: 2017-2023, Nova Innovation, Ynys Enlli , Project Environmental Study
Abstract:
Provides information on the baseline environment in the Enlli and Bardsey Sound area including available data and evidence on environmental, social and economic factors of relevance to the Enlli Tidal Project EIA. Considers the possible environmental and socio-economic effects of a tidal energy project at this location. See Annex I for list of PES chapters. Available for use in any future tidal energy projects in Bardsey Sound. Information is likely to be relevant to environmental assessments of any marine project in the area but would need updating and should not be considered a replacement for the need for a project-specific scoping report. Wider potential environmental interest and application for the area generally. The Enlli Tidal Project Summary Report is provided in both English and Welsh.

| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2017-2023, Nova Innovation, Ynys Enlli , Project Environmental Study |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | Project Environmental Study |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | ed58c8a2-3a47-4305-a9d3-6a1a2b00ac08 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | TCE-3688 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2017-01-01 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2023-04-16 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | In late 2022 a number of factors led to Nova scaling back plans for the Enlli Tidal Project. These included the lack of revenue support for the project, higher than expected cabling costs and the lack of a grid connection for the full 0.5 MW project capacity. The consequence of these factors is that for the foreseeable future, Nova will not be applying for consents for a 0.5 MW tidal energy project in Bardsey Sound. However, despite this early conclusion to the Enlli Tidal Project engineering and consenting work, a large body of information and evidence has been gathered that could be of benefit to future tidal energy and other marine and coastal projects in the area, and others with an interest in the area. This includes a considerable quantity of data and information on environmental receptors in the study area which is summarised in this Project Environmental Study (PES). The PES provides a foundation to inform project design, consenting and EIA for any future tidal energy projects in Bardsey Sound. The collated information on environmental receptors in the area also has much wider potential application and interest, so has been made publicly available. The PES provides information on the baseline environment in the Enlli and Bardsey Sound area including available data and evidence on environmental, social and economic factors and receptors. It considers (at a high level) the possible environmental and socio-economic effects of a tidal energy project at this location and key legislation, policy and guidance relevant to a tidal energy project in Bardsey Sound. A summary of the structure and content of the PES is provided in Table 1. |
