Metadata: 2009, Wessex Archaeology, Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm, Archaeological Written Scheme of Investigation
Abstract:
Wessex Archaeology (WA) was commissioned by Scira Limited to prepare an archaeological Written Scheme of Investigation (WSI) for the construction phase of the Sherringham Shoal offshore wind farm. The WSI is based on the information contained within the document within the Addendum to the ‘Environmental Statement’ (ES), herein after referred to as the Addendum. The Addendum was undertaken in March 2009 to update the ES, carried out in April 2006, with the results of geophysical and geotechnical surveys post submission and approval of the ES. The surveys were commissioned by Statoil to inform the design and construction process. The Written Scheme of Investigation (WSI) addresses the offshore part of the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm Development. For the onshore part of the work a separate WSI has been prepared and approved and therefore forms no part of this document. The objectives of the WSI are as follows: • To fulfil the requirements of English Heritage in respect of archaeological monitoring and mitigation of works associated with this project; • To establish the exact position and extent of any Archaeological Exclusion Zones; • To ensure that any further geophysical and geotechnical investigations associated with the project are subject to archaeological input, review, recording and sampling; • To establish the reporting and archiving requirements for the archaeological works undertaken during construction and post-construction monitoring. • To fulfil the requirements set out under the FEPA licence.
