Metadata: 2012-2013, Partrac, Zone 9 - Celtic Array, Inshore Metocean Survey
Abstract:
As part of the investigation for cable landfall sites for the Irish Sea Zone (ISZ), there was a requirement to collect one month of oceanographic (wave and tidal current) data from three potential cable landfall sites off the Anglesey coast. This is to provide calibration data for a hydrodynamic model of the area. This report summarises the QC procedure and results from data collected from Nortek AWACs (Acosutic Waves and Currents) deployed at sites 8 and 12. The QC process was done by Patrac Ltd , on behalf of Celtic Array Ltd. Available data set are Raw data in WPR format, Wave and Current Data Site in xls format, plots images in png formats and reports in pdf formats.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Partrac's in house AWAC processing tool was used to QC and processes the current data. To remove potential spikes within the velocity dataset, consecutive (both spatially and temporally) samples were checked for gradient as defined using the IOC Manual of Quality Control. Wave data were quality controlled using the principles supplied by Cefas (Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science) to the WaveNet QA/QC procedures ‘for data obtained from directional Waverider buoys via ARGOS and Orbcomm satellite telemetry’. Directional data were converted from magnetic direction to true by applying a magnetic variation correction of 1.37º W obtained from the BGS model (www.geomag.bgs.ac.uk/gifs/gma_calc.html). Quality control checks consist of range checking and removal of spikes for various parameters |
