Metadata: 2011-2014, HiDef, Inner Dowsing, Lynn and Lincs Offshore Wind Farms, Digital Aerial Bird Surveys
Abstract:
HiDef Aerial Surveying Limited (HiDef) was commissioned to undertake digital video aerial surveys as part of a programme to monitor the effects of the construction and operation of the Inner Dowsing, Lynn and Lincs Offshore Wind Farm projects on seabirds. The objectives were established in an Ornithological Monitoring Plan (OMP) (Centrica, 2013) to meet the requirements of Marine Licence L/2011/00111/9 (the Marine License) issued by the Marine Management Organisation (the Licensing Authority) for the Lincs project. The OMP was approved by the Licensing Authority on 8th April 2013, following consultation with the Statutory Nature Conservation Bodies (SNCB). Aerial surveys were flown using four super high definition video cameras mounted on the underside of the aircraft. Video images were processed in two stages, firstly detecting and marking objects then secondly these were identified to species or species group. A full QA process was used to ensure accuracy of detection and identification. Abundance of birds was estimated by computing density surface models from the survey data. Visualisations of raw count data and fitted distribution maps from density surface models were used to present distribution patterns of birds within the study area. This series contains reports and datasets collated from the surveys conducted between 2011 and 2014, covering the construction and post-construction phases of the project.

| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 5725 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2011-2014, HiDef, Inner Dowsing, Lynn and Lincs Offshore Wind Farms, Digital Aerial Bird Surveys |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | ff182622-8f1e-4fb3-8eda-421b85ad72c9 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | HiDef Aerial Bird Survey |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2011 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2014 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
