| Other details | ||
| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 6871 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | British Geological Survey (BGS) Geophysical Survey 1980/3: UK central North Sea between 56 and 59 degrees N (07/07/1980 to 07/09/1980) |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | abc9f747-53c5-0f38-e044-0003ba9b0d98 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | BGS_CMD_REF184 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | dataset |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1980-07-07 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 1980-09-07 |
| Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | 5 |
| Spatial resolution unit | This describes the unit of spatial resolution which for distance must be metres. | urn:ogc:def:uom:EPSG::9001 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
| Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | Report: Brett, CP. 1980. Cruise report on Project 80/03. A regional geophysical survey in the northern North Sea. (IGS Report No 105) |
| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Geophysical equipment types used included: Airgun/Sleeve Gun, Deep Tow Boomer, Echo Sounder, Gravimeter, Magnetometer, Pinger, Sidescan Sonar, Sparker, Transit Sonar and Water Gun. The survey was undertaken by British Geological Survey. Positioning: Magnavox satellite navigation system integrated with MX610/MX600 doppler sonar and Arma Brown Mk I Mod 5 gyro compass Decca Mk 21 main chain receiver - optional inegration with the above. Echo sounding: Atlas Deso 10 echo sounder with hull mounted transducers (33 and 210 kHz) and Edig 10 digitiser unit Sonar systems: Kelvin Hughes MS47 transit sonar - hull mounted, port scanning UDI AS350 dual channel side-scan sonar with catamaran tow fish Recording on an EPC 3200 graphic recorder Seismic systems: Edo Western 248 pinger: 3.5 kHz, 10kW transducer in tow-fish assembly. Used with TSS Model 302 swell filter. Recording on EPC 4600 graphic recorder Huntec Deep-tow Boomer: system with remote controlled winch, 2 x Krohn-hite bandpass filters. Huntec ST2 hydrophone. Recording on an EPC 4100 graphic recorder EG&G sparker system: up to 5kJ capability, one 3-element and 1 5-element spark array. Krohn-hite bandpass filter, TSS Model 307 TVG amplifier. EG&G 263C x2 hydrophones with Teledyne 7 channel (10m) in latter part of the survey). Recording on an EPC 4600 graphic recorder Air gun system: Bolt 600B, two guns with standard (1-40cubic inch) range of chamber sizes, Krohn-hite bandpass filter, TSS Model 307 TVG amplifier. Geomecanique 30m hydrophone (also a Geomecanique 50m 3 section hydrophone used with the airgun and water gun). Recording on an EPC4600 graphic recorder. Water gun system: Sodera Mica-T 80 cubic inch gun recording as for the air gun system. Gravitymeter: LaCoste and Romberg S75 air-sea gravity meter. World Wide land gravity meter used for base ties.
