  <dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">This dataset comprises hydrographic data profiles, collected by a conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) sensor package, during December 1996. It incorporates a CTD survey between the Shetlands and Norway. The data were collected by the Scottish Office Agriculture Environment and Fisheries Department Aberdeen Marine Laboratory as part of a combined acoustic, trawling and CTD survey on the western mackerel stock immediately prior to and during the start of the spawning migration.</dc:description>
