<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Use of the National Vegetation Classification (NVC) as a basis for community definition in the saltmarsh habitats of Burry Inlet and Loughor Estuary. The area comprises the most extensive site of saltmarsh vegetation in Wales. The purpose of this data capture is to provide detailed information on the distribution of the key elements for which the estuary was submitted for selection as a candidate Special Area of Conservation (cSAC) including the extent of transitional zones, extent of saltmarsh communities and the distribution of the nationally scarce and locally distributed Marsh Mallow, Althaea officinalis. Another aim of the survey was to provide floristic data to enable the separation of the Mediterranean Saltmeadows from their more generally distributed counterparts.</dc:description>
