<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">This dataset is made up of the results from a survey of lichen distribution and cover on Skomer Island following the Sea Empress oil spill. Pembrokeshire is of the highest significance for coastal saxicolous and terricolous lichens and Skomer is a key site in Countryside Council for Wales’ (CCW's) lichen monitoring programme.

After the Sea Empress oil spill SEEEC decided the Skomer lichens should be re-surveyed. Record type, distribution and extent of lichens within the 40 quadrats established on Skomer Island. Compare these records with those from earlier surveys and determine the nature of any changes that have taken place. Interpret any changes as far as possible, with special consideration given to those that may be attributable to oil pollution. Re-mark quadrats by indicating their precise position.</dc:description>
