<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">The purpose of this data capture was to investigate the feasibility of using a transect based methodology to determine the proportion of muddy communities and the zonation of muddy communities from upper to lower shore. The Mawddach is one of the best examples of a small, drying, bar-built estuary in Britain and, with its mountainous catchment area it has some of the lowest nutrient inputs in Wales.

In order to be able to report on the condition of the estuary a number of attributes have been identified which require monitoring. The aims of this project was to investigate the feasibility of using a transect based methodology to determine the proportion of muddy communities and the zonation of muddy communities from upper to lower shore.</dc:description>
