<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">The Habitats Directive establishes that the management of Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) should aim to achieve the favourable conservation status of habitat and species features listed within its Annex I and Annex II. For SACs in Wales, the Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) is therefore required to report on a regular basis on whether features are in favourable conservation status. To do this CCW has developed a programme of feature condition monitoring. In Menai Strait & Conwy Bay SAC the relevant Annex I intertidal habitat features are Mudflats and sandflats not covered by seawater at low tide and Reefs. The purpose of this data capture was to assist with the reporting on the favourable conservation status of Reef features in the Menai Strait and Conwy Bay Special Area of Conservation. This dataset comprises of the results from an intertidal monitoring survey carried out on the tide-swept boulder habitat in the Menai Strait in 2008. Boulders are a reef feature of the Menai Strait and Conwy Bay SAC. Boulders at both Britannia Bridge and Felinheli were surveyed. The purpose of this data capture was to assist in the reporting on the favourable conservation status of Reef features in the Menai Strait and Conwy Bay SAC. All survey completed by professional and experienced marine field surveyors so data quality and confidence is considered high.</dc:description>
