<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">The Habitats Directive establishes that the management of Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) should aim to achieve the favourable conservation status of habitat and species features listed within its Annex I and Annex II. For SACs in Wales, the Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) is therefore required to report on a regular basis on whether features are in favourable conservation status. This dataset is the results of an intertidal monitoring survey carried out on the tide-swept boulder habitat in the Menai Strait in 2008. Tide-swept Fucus serratus habitats is a nationally important habitat and although the habitat extent was known, no detailed studies of the communities had been carried out. Tide-swept habitats were surveyed at two locations to provide a baseline for current condition and to allow a study for potential future impacts of mussel farming in the vicinity. All survey completed by professional and experienced marine field surveyors. Data quality and confidence considered high.</dc:description>
