Intertidal Monitoring of the Biotope SLR.FserX.T in the Menai Strait and Colwyn Bay Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) 2010 dataset https://portal.medin.org.uk/portal/start.php?tpc=007_NRW_DS114949 The Habitats Directive establishes that the management of Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) should aim to achieve the favourable conservation status of habitat and species features listed within its Annex I and Annex II. For SACs in Wales, the Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) is therefore required to report on a regular basis on whether features are in favourable conservation status. This dataset is the results of an intertidal monitoring survey carried out on the tide-swept boulder habitat in the Menai Strait in 2008. Tide-swept Fucus serratus habitats is a nationally important habitat and although the habitat extent was known, no detailed studies of the communities had been carried out. Tide-swept habitats were surveyed at two locations to provide a baseline for current condition and to allow a study for potential future impacts of mussel farming in the vicinity.
