<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">This dataset has now been superseded by data provided by the Environment Agency for England and Wales, please see metadata number EXT_DS123552 - "Environment Agency: Coastal Flood Boundaries (CFB) publication 2018 - England and Wales (3rd Party Data)".

This is a GIS dataset and supporting information providing design / extreme sea level and typical surge information around the coastline of Wales under present day conditions. This is a specialist dataset which informs on work commenced around the coast ranging from coastal flood modelling, scheme design, strategic planning and flood risk assessments.

The dataset contains the following layer components:
- Extreme Sea Level Values: Extreme sea levels for a range of return periods
- Extreme Sea Level Confidence Level: Confidence intervals providing allowances for uncertainty
- Estuary Boundaries: Inland estuarine boundaries of the extreme sea levels
- Surge Shape Locations: Reference to surge shape appropriate for each Class A gauge site and where to apply it
- Tide Gauge Locations: Location of gauging stations</dc:description>
