  <dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">This dataset is a collection of marine benthic surveys related to former Countryside Council for Wales (CCW), and now Natural Resources Wales (NRWs) technical support, research and monitoring contracts. The purpose of this data capture and collation was to aid coastal zone and sea-use management and to contribute to the identification of important areas of marine natural heritage. The surveys focussed on benthic habitats, often referred to as 'biotopes', in the intertidal and inshore (typically within 3 nm) subtidal areas. Original copies of all the surveys are now held separately in NRW's Marine Recorder database.</dc:description>
