  <dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">This survey was carried out as part of the International Council for the 
Exploration of the Sea (ICES) co-ordinated herring larval survey of Regions of 
IVc and VIId (North Sea and English Channel). Its aim was to sample herring 
larvae and their potential food organisms in a study of their diet and feeding 
status. Plankton samples were collected at each site on the survey grid. This 
data consists of the numbers of fish eggs and larvae, along with associated 
positional data and volumes filtered.</dc:description>
