<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">This map shows the locations of important (those protected under the Habitats Directive) indicative seabed habitats. This map differs from map 16a in that greater uncertainty exists about the precentage cover that would consitute a "bed" or "reef". Of relevance to Shetland are horse mussel, maerl and common eelgrass. The Scottish Sustainable Marine Environment Initiative (SSMEI) Shetland pilot trawled through 32 datasets for presence of these beds and reefs, and digitally converted these to this map.</dc:description>
