<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Benthic marine species abundance data from an experiment on the long-term effects of scallop dredge disturbance on benthic communities. To the west of Port Erin Bay a 2km2 area of seabed was closed to commercial fishing and towed gear in 1989. The University of Liverpool, at Port Erin Marine Laboratory (PEML), ran an experiment in this closed area since 1994 to investigate the effects of scallop dredging.</dc:description>
