<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">The Wash is the largest estuary in England, and holds a high population of English harbour seals (Phoco vitulina). This population has been monitored since the 1960s, using counts of animals hauled out as indices of population size. This study is a continuation of that on going monitoring of the harbour seal population. The dataset includes a detialed count of harbour seals along with their location, date of sighting and age estimation. Detailed GIS maps showing the ditribution of the sightings can be found in the appendix of the document. The report finishes with a comparrison of the dataset with previous studies.</dc:description>
