<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Black Guillemot sites were mapped around Shetland as part of the oil spill sensitivity maps commissioned by SOTEAG. The distribution of Black Guillemots were based on surveys carried out by SOTEAG on annual basis. Black Guillemots were mapped in addition to vulnerable seasons for birds (wintering, breeding and moulting) based on the particular vulnerability of the species; to oil spills. They are present throughout the year in high numbers and feed in rafts below the colonies in early mornings and evenings, and can occur especially around the tidal streams of Yell Sound.</dc:description>
