<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">The bottom fauna within a radius of 15 miles from Port St Mary, Isle of Man, was surveyed during the period July 1946 to April 1950. Various types of gear were used including trawls, dredges and van Veen grabs. Resulting Modiolus modiolus records from selected sites of the southern Isle of Man within a radius of 15 miles from Port St Mary are provided. Surveying was during the period July 1946 to April 1950 to provide better information about the distribution of the benthos within working distance of the Marine Biological Station at Port Erin. Samples are given as percentage occurance of species for all hauls in which animals were identified. Serpula vermicularis and Echinus esculentus were also found in the some of the trawls but have not been entered as they did not occur in all of them. This survey was collated by MarLIN as part of a contract to find information on the distribution of species and habitats in the Irish Sea as part of the Irish Sea Pilot project.</dc:description>
