<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">As part of the Association of Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities (the Association) National Marine Protected Area (MPA) Co-ordination Project the Association collated MPA related fisheries management from all 10 Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities (IFCAs) in England. The IFCAs are responsible for the sustainable management of inshore sea fisheries resources out to six nautical miles from coastal baselines around the coast of England. Management was collated to provide a national view on the progress made by IFCAs in managing commercial fisheries within MPAs.

The data takes the form of GIS shapefiles and represents a snapshot of MPA related fisheries management measures that were correct as of 22/08/2019. Reasonable endeavours were made to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the data but the information does not constitute advice and should not be relied upon as such. The data provided is not to be considered an exhaustive list of IFCA management measures. Additional measures exist which further limit fishing effort in the inshore region. Please contact individual IFCAs for up to date relevant legislation.</dc:description>
