<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Following identification of areas of Annex I habitat within the greater Thames Area of Search (AoS), this report
gives a brief outline of two sites within the AoS which are considered appropriate for designation as SACs.
These are:
â?¢ Margate Sands; and
â?¢ Long Sands.
This report has been produced for the purpose of providing Natural England with summary information regarding
the characteristics of these sites. For each site, an initial assessment against the Habitats Directive Annex III Stage
1A site selection criteria has been made, and is presented together with a brief description of the site and its
features. This report is not intended to represent a complete site selection report. Following selection of one (or
both) of these sites by Natural England, a full site selection report will be prepared. This later report will contain a
more detailed assessment of the site against the site selection criteria and guiding principles, along with full
supporting scientific evidence.</dc:description>
