  <dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Marine species abundance data from the effects of marine gravel extraction on the macrobenthos at the experimental dredge site off North Norfolk, UK. Following an extensive survey off North Norfolk a small area of seabed gravel (500 meters by 270 meters) was selected for experimental dredging. A reference site was also selected, having similar physical and biological characteristics to the dredged site. This paper presents both the physical and biological findings some 3 years after dredging and puts forward a generalized model of macrobenthic response to the effects of physical disturbance caused by dredging. Data on species presented in this record refer to data of the refrence site only. This survey was collated by MarLIN as part of a data collation contract for species on the provisional list of nationally important marine features (Lieberknecht et al. 2004).</dc:description>
