<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">East Anglia Three (EA3) is the second East Anglia offshore windfarm project developed byScottish Power Renewables (UK) (SPR) as part of the East Anglia Hub. EA3 is located 71km east of Great Yarmouth and covers an area of approximately 305km2. It has capacity to generate 1.2GW from the 95 planned turbines installed onto monopile foundations and a single offshore converter station (OFCS) installed onto a jacket foundation.
Construction of EA3 is currently ongoing however the mobility of the seabed on site limits the validity of pre-construction survey data, with the latest datasets are due to expire at July of 2026.
SPR have awarded GEOxyz a contract to renew the geophysical surveys over several wind turbine (WTG) foundations (FOU) locations across the site.
A total of 95 WTGs are scheduled for installation during this phase of construction. Not all locations form part of this survey campaign; 69 of the 95 locations were surveyed during Campaign 4, comprising the original 64 base-scope locations plus 5 additional locations from the D06–D13 string confirmed by SPR. Additionally, 3 scour protection monitoring (SPS) locations were surveyed consisting of MBES acquisition only covering a minimum diameter of 100 m.
The purpose of the work is to acquire multibeam echosounder (MBES), backscatter and sidescan sonar (SSS) data around the targeted wind turbine (WTG) foundation (FOU) locations. Targeted locations may or may not have infrastructure already installed at the time of survey. Should foundation infrastructure not already be in place a 170m radius (340m diameter) around each WTG location must be surveyed. Where a foundation is already installed the required survey area can be reduced to 150m radius (300m diameter).</dc:description>
