<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">This collection comprises images, documents, spreadsheet data, photogrammetry models, and 3D models created by structured light scanning, from archaeological investigations at Denge Quarry, Lydd, Kent. Wessex Archaeology was commissioned to undertake works in 2022. The Denge quarry wreck, also referred as Dungeness shipwreck, was found and recovered in spring 2022 by staff at Cemex's Denge quarry while excavating in the quarry lake for aggregate. The remains were recorded and re-deposited in the quarry by a team of archaeologists during a four-week period between July and August 2022. The study of the timbers suggests that the ship as early as the mid-1530s with wood sourced from East and South-East England. The presence of timber from two different phases introduces some complexity to dating the ship, could suggest that the ship underwent alterations after 1561.</dc:description>
