<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">The survey was carried out on RV Sarsia using a Large (~19m headline) Otter Trawl without a reduced mesh cod-end or a cover. Demersal fish abundance is recorded, fish are recorded by number of individuals or total biomass of common species i.e. whiting. From 1965 1972 flatfish and Gadoids (cod, whiting, etc) were not separated into individual species on occasions when there were more than 2 species present in the haul. There was also a tendency to use the words few or lots when describing the quantity of whiting or hake in a particular haul, this is again towards the end of the survey period ~ 1971/1972</dc:description>
