<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Phase 1 of the construction of an offshore wind farm situated midway between the Kent and Essex coastlines and more than 20km from each shore. Phase 1 comprises 175 turbines, 2 offshore substations, and 4 export cables to the shore. This particular part of the project reports the discovery of a probable wooden cable reel found during survey works for cable installation during construction of the wind farm. It was reported due to the implementation of the London Array Protocol for Archaeological Discoveries (PAD), overseen by London Array Limited and their Retained Archaeologists. The timber find has been left in situ on the seabed and therefore resides within the context with which it was discovered. Given the lack of evidence for any form of associated material in this area, and that it is beyond the array development footprint, no archaeological avoidance block has been put in place.</dc:description>
