<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Cockle surveys on the two beds on the English side of the Solway Firth, Cardurnock and Beckfoot, were carried out by a consultant on behalf of the Cumbria Sea Fisheries Committee between 2003 and 2009. These surveys were used to identify commercial cockle beds, calculate the total tonnage of stock on a bed in order to calculate a TAC and also to monitor changes in stock levels.</dc:description>
