<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">This dataset contains all the laboratory tank trial data from the CodSELect project which aims to support North Sea Nephrops fishers with a new technical measure to reduce the capture of cod and maintain catch of their target species, which would allow improvements in sustainable catching, reduce discards and ultimately lead to a healthier, more sustainable UK fishing and seafood sector.
There are seven datasets in total, 6 for cod and one for saithe measuring behavioural responses to a range of different artificial light parameters including blue, green, red and white constant light or strobing light with a frequency of 1 Hz at 5 or 50%. The distance of the fish from the light at set timepoints throughout the trial was used as the unit of measure and the light was generated using LED light pods and a coiled 20m length of fibre optic cable. All laboratory tank trials were carried out in the Marine Directorates aquarium facilities in Aberdeen.</dc:description>
