  <dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Marine Scotland &#x2013; Science uses FRV Scotia to undertake a deep-water trawl survey along the 
continental slope of the Rockall Trough (Neat et al. 2008). This survey area is situated some 
100 km to the north and west of Scotland (Figure 1.1). The continental slope separates the 
shallow shelf seas (&lt; 200 m) from the deep ocean plains (&gt; 2000 m) and supports a diverse 
assemblage of fish, some of which are commercially exploited such as roundnose grenadier, 
blue ling, black scabbard, orange roughy and deepwater sharks.</dc:description>
