<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">The ground report in this series describes the findings of a ground investigation carried out by Fugro Seacore
Limited (FSCL) on the instructions and under the supervision of DONG Energy Power (UK) Ltd,
at the West of Duddon Sands offshore windfarm site, located in the Irish Sea off the west coast of
England.
The West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind Farm comprises one hundred and thirty-nine wind
turbines and two substations. The foundations may be Mono piles or Suction Bucket
Foundations (SBF) for the wind turbines, whereas the use of jacket pile structures is anticipated
for the sub-stations
The purpose of this investigation was to provide sufficient data on the ground conditions to enable
the detailed design of wind turbine and substation foundations.
The scope of the ground investigation comprised:
· thirty cable percussion boreholes extended by rotary open hole and rotary cored
boreholes, to a maximum depth of 68.40m bsb.
· Downhole seismic logging and high pressure dilatometer testing
· Nine boreholes advanced using rotary open hole techniques with continuous downhole
Cone Penetration Tests.
· Offshore Geotechnical laboratory testing
· Onshore Geotechnical laboratory testing
The site work was undertaken between 4th June 2010 and 11th August 2010.</dc:description>
