  <dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">The aim of this study was to facilitate efficiency and reduce subjectivity in the matching of biotopes to survey data for improved habitat mapping of particulate sediment habitats in aggregate extraction regions. This was achieved by the analysis of biological and particle size data (derived from grab sampling) and % coverage of principal sediment components (e.g. sand, pebbles, cobbles; derived from static image analysis). Data were obtained from 907 samples.</dc:description>
