  <dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Fugro was contracted by DONG Energy Wind Power A/S (hereafter known as the client) to undertake a pre-construction and unexploded ordnance (UXO) survey on the Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm (HOW01). The HOW01 site is located approximately 105 km east of Spurn Head and the Humber Estuary, in the western North Sea, United Kingdom. The survey comprised of a geophysical survey of wind turbine generators (WTG) and inter-array cables (IAC) on the western (Lot 1) and eastern (Lot 2) part of the HOW01 site. The geophysical survey was undertaken by the Victor Hensen, Fugro Frontier and Fugro Helmert between June and October 2016. The objectives of the pre-construction UXO and engineering survey were:
- Acquire high-resolution bathymetry, sidescan sonar, magnetometer and sub-bottom profiler data in the areas specified;
- Acquire information on possible ferromagnetic objects;
- Assess acquired magnetometer and acoustic data as instructed by the Employer and the Employers UXO Consultant, with the aim of identifying any potential UXO that may form a threat during installation of the wind farm;
- Identify natural and man-made objects at or below the seabed that may affect possible offshore installations;
- Identify seabed features and objects at or below seabed, both man-made and geomorphological;
- Identify and quantify possible biogenic reefs;
- Interpret the shallow subsurface (5 m depth) geology.</dc:description>
