<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">The Orkney Research Centre for Archaeology (ORCA) was commissioned by
Xodus Group and MeyGen Ltd to assess the potential impacts of the proposed
marine renewable energy development in the Inner Sound, Caithness, between the
island of Stroma and the mainland parish of Canisbay upon marine historic
environment assets.

This assessment includes:
• A review of current legislation and guidance concerning the marine heritage;
• A review of existing data sources (DBA – desk based assessment) to identify
known submerged sites in the area and the potential for unidentified
submerged sites and landscapes;
• A review and interpretation of remote sensing survey data to check for any
sites identified by the DBA and to identify any previously unknown cultural
heritage remains that show in the survey data;
• An assessment of the importance of any identified sites and landscapes;
• Identification and assessment of the significance of any potential impacts
(including direct, indirect, cumulative and residual) of the proposed
development on the above, and
• Recommend mitigation strategies (for guidance purposes) to avoid or reduce
impacts on any identified sites or palaeo-landscapes to a level where there
are none or they are not significant.</dc:description>
