  <dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">This project examines baseline monitoring surveys that were undertaken at the site of the North Hoyle Offshore Wind Farm. Pre-construction baseline data were obtained over a period of 1 month (15th February to 17th March 2003). Marine sediments were surveyed at seventeen locations using a day grab. Particle Size analysis was carried out on each of these grab samples. Suspended sediment monitoring was also carried out. Benthic organisms were surveyed from three replicate samples which were obtained from the seventeen marine sediment samples. Two hundred and eight benthic invertebrate taxa were found as well as four major biotopes. Fishing vessels were also monitored for loss of abundance or change in distribution of their catches. Grey seal counts are being collated to allow for any major influence of wind farm construction and/or operation to be assessed.</dc:description>
