<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">This project involved the collection of metocean data at the location of Walney Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) by ABP Marine Environmental Research Ltd (ABPmer) in order to fully appreciate the hydrodynamic climate prior to turbine installation in 2009. ABPmer collected three months of wave data (height; period; direction) at a pre-specified location within Walney OWF. In order to maximise the usefulness of the data collected, ABPmer recommended the concurrent collection of tidal current information (speed; direction). The equipment was deployed on 17th June 2008 for a total of 13 weeks. One planned service visit was undertaken on 29th July 2008 and the device was re-deployed on 5th August 2008. A Nortek AWAC device was used to collect data. The device was mounted 0.5m above the seabed and deployed at the south-western corner of the proposed site at 465383, 5985672 (WGS84 UTM30N) in, approximately, 23m of water depth. Over 40 days worth of usable data has been retrieved from the Nortek AWAC device. The key parameters recorded by the device were water levels, tide currents and directions and waves.</dc:description>
