Report number: R48.Posford Haskoning, David Tyldesley and Associates, CEFAS and Hydraulics Research have prepared this report for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minster. The aim of this report was to Scope whether a development plan approach, possibly based on that used within the land use planning system in its current state (2003), or an alternative, could provide a suitably strategic and sustainable approach to the identification and allocation of areas for marine aggregate dredging in English marine waters. The main aim of applying planning principles to marine aggregate extraction was to help ensure that a sustainable approach was taken to future activities.</dc:description>
