<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">The Central Science Laboratory (CSL) Bird Detection Radar was commissioned
by Centrica Renewable Energy Limited to undertake a ten-day monitoring
exercise during October 2004 into offshore bird flight activity in the vicinity of the
proposed Lincs wind farm (LWF). The aims of the study were: > To provide a radar assessment of bird flight activity and direction within radar range from the coast out towards the Lincs site, > To describe the bird movement in relation to weather conditions, > To compare visual observations and boat based observations with radar. During the 10 days of operation bird detection radar detected, tracked and
recorded 53772 avian radar tracks. Visual observations from the coast, and boat-based transect surveying, were also undertaken. This series contains the survey report and associated maps showing the radar tracks.</dc:description>
