<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">In March 2011 EMU Limited was commissioned by Meygen Limited to assess the hydrodynamic conditions within the proposed Inner Sound Tidal Energy Site. Two acoustic instruments were deployed in the Inner Sound for 30 days. A Nortek 600 kHz Acoustic Wave And Current Profiler (AWAC) was used to produce a current profile of the whole water column and assess the wave climate. An RD Instruments Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) Workhorse was used to gather high resolution turbulence data in the section of the water column where turbines will be operating. The two acoustic profilers were deployed in bespoke seabed frames that are designed to be low profile, trawl resistant and to keep the instruments clear of the seabed. The project was exceptionally challenging however it has proved that data can be collected in these extreme conditions.</dc:description>
