<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">An assessment of the potential ornithological impacts of the proposed Ormonde offshore wind farm, off the Cumbria coast. The work evaluates whether the proposed wind farm may have any adverse effects on the ornithological nature conservation interests of this area, and determine whether any such effects may be significant.

Findings consistently showed low seabird and waterfowl densities at the wind farm site, minimal direct habitat loss, and negligible collision or displacement risks for most species, including internationally important ones. Short-term disturbance from grid connection works at sensitive landfall locations could require mitigation strategies such as scheduling construction during periods of lowest ornithological interest and minimized lighting, with ongoing monitoring recommended. Overall, the assessment concluded that, with targeted mitigation and adherence to regulatory requirements, the offshore wind farm is unlikely to cause significant adverse impacts to local and migratory bird populations.
