<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Emu Ltd conducted a hydrographic and geophysical survey for GREP at Kentish Flats in the Thames Estuary, near Herne Bay, between 15 February and 24 March 2002 to support planning and engineering for a proposed offshore wind farm and associated cable route. Utilizing methodologies such as single-beam bathymetric, side scan sonar, seismic, and topographic surveys, the survey covered a 10 square kilometre area and included high-precision GPS and total-station equipment. The findings revealed a predominantly flat and featureless seabed with minor sand ripples, localised debris, notable sub-seabed features (including a buried channel and sediment thickness variations), and minimal hazards except minor obstructions and archaeological features. The study concluded these results provide essential baseline data for foundation design, future monitoring, and cable routing, and recommended that the data be used as a primary planning resource for wind farm construction, with all positions referenced to National Grid, ETRS89, and OSGB36 datums.</dc:description>
