<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">RPS have been requested by Centrica Energy to give an Environmental Appraisal of the intertidal habitats along the proposed Lincs, Docking Shoal and Race Bank cable route, as part of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for a Round 2 offshore wind farm development. This appraisal uses existing published data to evaluate the benthic communities within the vicinity of the proposed cable route corridor, to assess their importance relative to the wider Wash area, and in comparison to other similar habitats. Given that the previous datasets are somewhat dated, a survey of the biological resources along the route corridor was conducted and a comparison of the resources through time is made.
An assessment has been made as to the potential impacts of the temporary disturbance to these communities from laying the cable and whether this is likely to have implications through the food webs to fisheries, marine mammals and essentially to birds. This assessment is made in light of the areaâ??s designation as a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and a Special Protection Area (SPA), as part of the Natura 2000 network of internationally designated conservation sites.</dc:description>
