  <dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">The Environmental Assessment methodology follows the requirements set out in the draft ecological impact assessment methodology of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM 2002). The first step is to identify the ecological value of the area under consideration, from Internationally important statutory areas to non-statutory areas of local importance. The second step is then to assess the magnitude of the potential impact on the area. Impact magnitude can range from major negative, through neutral, to major positive depending on whether they are permanent/temporary, short-term/long-term, etc. This depends on the ecological significance of the area such that a major-negative impact magnitude on a site of International importance will have an impact significance of &#x2018;critical negative&#x2019;.</dc:description>
