<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Sand and gravel are supplied both from land based quarries and, in certain areas of the country, from marine resources. Each mode of extraction, processing and delivery has a wide range of environmental, social and economic implications. The study aims to adapt, develop and test the assessment approach recommended in the feasibility study in two case study areas; and to examine how the wider policy context might accommodate better information on the most sustainable balance of marine and land alternatives.</dc:description>
