<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">At the request of SCIRA (the Client), an investigation was carried out at the Sheringham
Shoal Offshore Wind Farm site, off the north Norfolk coast. The investigation consisted
of carrying out nineteen electric Static Cone Penetration Tests (CPTs) at fifteen
locations and vibrocore sampling at thirty locations at the site in order to provide
information about the ground conditions at the wind farm and along the export cable
route.
The fieldwork was carried out between 16th and 18th August 2005, performed by Alluvial
Mining Limited using their equipment and personnel on board the vessel VOS Baltic.
The site extended offshore approximately 15 to 20 miles north of Cromer and
Sheringham on the north coast of Norfolk.
The approximate National Grid reference of the site is 375000E, 5885000N.
The records of the British Geological Survey (Sheet 131 – Cromer - of the 1:50,000
Series Geological Map, Solid and Drift Edition) indicate that the site is underlain by
Pleistocene deposits over the Upper Chalk
Further background research such as a desk study was not required within the terms of
reference for the work.</dc:description>
