  <dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has commissioned ABP Marine Environmental Research Ltd 
(ABPmer) to investigate the issue of sediment pathways and large-scale offshore wind farms as part
of a series of supporting technical investigations related tot eh Strategic Environmental 
Assessment (SEA) for marine renewable energy. This work builds on the Phase 1 SEA for offshore 
wind (BMT Cordah, 2003) which was completed in anticioation of the second round of site leasing
(Round 2) for the three stategic interest areas commonly referred to as; Thames, Greater Wash and
North West (Liverpool Bay).
This report is also a companion to a qualitative review of sand banks, sediment pathways and 
offshore wind farms by Kenyon &amp;amp; Cooper, 2004, and extends earlier generic research funded by
DTI, prior to Round 1, on the issue of potential effects of offshore wind developments on coastal 
processes (Cooper ; Beiboer, 2002).</dc:description>
