<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Natural Power Consultants (NPC) has been invited by EDP renewables (EDPR) to update the existing OFTI ES Chapter to fit the agreed change to the grid connection point from Peterhead to New Deer and recent new guidelines from the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) regarding corkscrew injury to seals will require reassessment of potential impact and mitigation for seal species (JNCC 2012). Such injuries are believed to be caused by the use of ducted propellers during slow manoeuvring of vessels (Thompson et al., 2010). Seals are protected under the marine (Scotland) Act 2010 and both harbour seals (Phoca vitulina) and grey seals (Halichoerus grypus) are common year around in the Outer Moray Firth with two Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) designated for harbour seals (Dornoch Firth and Morrich More SAC). Included here are the ES chapter and figures as pdfs with associated GIS data.</dc:description>
