<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">This project examines the landscape and seascape visual assessment carried out by RPS at the site of the London Array offshore wind farm.

The purpose of this study was to describe, classify and evaluate the existing landscape likely to be affected by the scheme at the construction and operational phases of the project; To identify visual receptors with view of the proposed development; To assess the significance of the direct and indirect impacts on landscape character and visual resources taking into account the measures proposed to mitigate any impacts identified.

Key findings highlighted considerable variation in sensitivity to windfarm development, with highly valued or designated landscapes, such as marshes, AONBs, and Heritage Coasts, most susceptible to adverse effects, though actual visual impacts were generally found to be low to negligible due to distance, screening by landforms, and the presence of existing marine structures.

The assessment recommended rigorous, transparent impact evaluation methodologies, conservation of historic landscape features and characteristic habitats, careful siting and visual mitigation of turbines, and ongoing consideration of cumulative effects from marine infrastructure, to safeguard the unique landscape character and ecological integrity of the region amid offshore wind energy development.</dc:description>
