<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">This Navigational Risk Assessment supports an application to install in the Sound of Sanda a pre-commercial demonstrator project for the installation, operation and support of a ¼ scale tethered tidal energy device – Evopod – with a nominal installed capacity of 35kW. The application is made by Oceanflow Development Ltd (ODL) a company registered in Scotland and which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the technology development company Oceanflow Energy Ltd, a company registered in England and based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

The survey area was confined to the Sound of Sanda, with supporting evidence gained from adjacent local sea areas. Survey was by analysis of AIS data, gained from Anatec, and with supporting information from NLB. Additionally, locally employed observers provided visual data to capture those vessels not fitted with AIS.</dc:description>
