<dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Author: English Nature. Report number: R344. English Nature Research Reports: 411. This report details the results of a study aimed at trialling three acoustic seabed mapping systems in Plymouth Sound, to determine their effectiveness in identifying and spatially discriminating marine benthic biotopes. A sidescan sonar, a swath-sounding interferometer and a normal beam acoustic ground discrimination system were compared over an established calibration area. The area was surveyed by each system on more than one occasion.</dc:description>
